St. Louis Learning Disabilities Association

Project Background
St. Louis Learning Disabilities Association, or St. Louis LDA, helps children with learning disabilities, ADHD, language disorders, autism, and learning differences by providing educational testing, tutoring, parent and guardian coaching, advocacy, consultation, school services, workshops, and family support. The organization’s mission is grounded in the belief that children need hope, understanding, and compassion to learn and reach their full potential.
For its 21st Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament, St. Louis LDA needed a cohesive visual campaign to promote one of its major fundraising events, drive registrations, attract sponsors, and connect the event back to the organization’s broader purpose: helping children learn, grow, and thrive.

Creative, Design & Messaging Approach
The creative direction balanced the energy of a golf tournament with the heart of St. Louis LDA’s mission. Rather than making the materials feel like a standard golf outing, the campaign connected the event to children, learning, confidence, and possibility. The central visual system used playful photography, golf imagery, bright accents, curved shapes, stars, and handwritten-style typography to create a campaign that felt fun, approachable, and mission-centered.
The campaign materials used St. Louis LDA’s teal and gold brand palette as the foundation, with soft blue-green accents and white space to improve readability.
- Teal provided stability and brand recognition
- Gold added warmth, optimism, and event energy.
The combination helped the materials feel cheerful and family-friendly while still professional enough for sponsors, donors, and corporate partners.
Typography played an important role in the campaign’s tone. Hand-drawn display fonts gave the materials a playful, youth-centered feel, while clean supporting text kept event details easy to scan. This was especially important across the flyer, mailer, sponsorship sheet, and platform-specific social graphics, where the same message had to work in different formats without losing clarity or visual consistency.
The campaign also used clear information hierarchy to make registration simple. Key details such as the date, check-in time, tee-off time, location, pricing, registration website, and phone number were repeated across materials. The flyer promoted the event as the 21st Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament on May 9, 2024, at Missouri Bluffs Golf Club, with check-in and lunch at 11:15 a.m., tee-off at 12:30 p.m., scramble format, silent auction, raffle, player gifts, dinner, and awards.

Messaging Strategy
The messaging strategy was built around three priorities:
Connect the event to the mission.
The campaign reminded audiences that the tournament supports children with learning disabilities and helps them reach their full potential. This mission language appeared directly in the event materials and aligned with St. Louis LDA’s broader message of helping children learn, grow, and thrive.
Make participation easy and appealing.
The campaign used direct calls to action, including “Register Now,” pricing details, the event website, and the organization’s phone number. The mailer and flyer included registration information for a $500 foursome and $125 individual player, creating clear entry points for both teams and individual participants.
Strengthen sponsor engagement.
The sponsorship materials translated the event into clear giving opportunities, with levels ranging from $250 Honor Roll Sponsor to $15,000 Premier Event Sponsor. Each level included benefits such as signage, special recognition, logo placement on the auction website, scorecard branding, and foursomes, helping sponsors understand both visibility and impact

The materials were flexible enough to fit multiple platforms while remaining visually unified through consistent color, imagery, typography, and messaging.
By connecting golf, children, sponsorship, and scholarship support into one recognizable campaign, the final materials helped elevate the event’s visibility, make registration clear, and reinforce the purpose behind participation: supporting educational opportunities and services that help children with learning differences reach their full potential.
