Healing Action Network

Project Background
Healing Action Network fosters safety, healing, and recovery with survivors of trafficking and exploitation. Through its Center for Survivors, CATE, and Volunteer Service Link programs, the organization provides trauma recovery services, statewide coalition work, advocacy, volunteer engagement, and community education. Healing Action Network’s public mission is centered on supporting survivors of trafficking and exploitation, and its vision is a community free from exploitation.
As Healing Action Network approached its 10th anniversary, the logo refresh needed to honor the organization’s history while giving the brand a more polished, modern, and milestone-ready presentation. The goal was not to abandon the existing identity, but to strengthen it—preserving the recognizable Healing Action name, movement-inspired mark, and survivor-centered spirit while making the logo feel more refined for anniversary communications, donor materials, event promotion, and public-facing brand use.

Creative, Design & Messaging Approach
The creative direction centered on the idea of healing in motion. Healing Action Network’s work is not static; it supports survivors through safety, recovery, rebuilding, advocacy, and long-term stability. The refreshed logo reflects that movement through the central abstract figure, which suggests growth, connection, and upward progress.
The figure between Healing and Action visually serves as a bridge between the two core ideas in the organization’s name. “Healing” represents care, restoration, safety, and recovery. “Action” represents advocacy, service, community response, and systems change. Placing the mark between the two words reinforces the organization’s role in connecting compassionate survivor support with meaningful community action.
The line treatment around the wordmark gives the logo structure and balance without making it feel rigid. The horizontal rules help frame the identity, creating a more finished and professional presentation that works well for anniversary materials, formal communications, event collateral, and digital use.
For the 10th anniversary context, the refreshed identity needed to communicate both legacy and momentum. Healing Action Network’s website identifies its 10th anniversary celebration as a moment to recognize “10 years of impact and resilience,” which aligns closely with the visual direction of the refreshed mark.
COLOR PALETTE
The refreshed logo uses deep blue, purple, green, and bright blue to create a visual identity that feels steady, compassionate, and forward-moving.
- Deep blue anchors the logo with trust, stability, and professionalism. It reflects the seriousness of Healing Action Network’s mission and reinforces credibility for donors, partners, survivors, advocates, and community stakeholders.
- Purple brings dignity, compassion, and survivor-centered strength. It also adds warmth and humanity to the identity, helping the mark feel less institutional and more personal.
- Green communicates growth, recovery, and renewal. This is especially appropriate for an organization whose work supports survivors through healing, rebuilding, and long-term stability.
- Bright blue adds energy, visibility, and forward motion. It gives the logo a more modern feel while reinforcing the “Action” side of the organization’s name.
Together, the palette balances the emotional weight of trafficking and exploitation work with a hopeful, recovery-centered visual tone.
TYPOGRAPHY
The typography uses a clean, modern sans-serif that feels professional, accessible, and highly readable. The larger treatment of Healing and Action gives equal weight to both parts of the organization’s name, reinforcing that the mission is grounded in both compassionate support and active response.
The word Network appears in a lighter, widely spaced uppercase style. This creates visual contrast while emphasizing the organization’s broader role as a connector of survivors, advocates, service providers, volunteers, coalition partners, and community resources.
The overall typographic treatment is restrained and contemporary, allowing the central symbol and color palette to carry the emotional energy of the brand while keeping the full identity clear and credible.

Messaging Strategy
The messaging strategy behind the refresh was built around three priorities:
Honor the mission.
The logo needed to remain rooted in Healing Action Network’s core purpose: fostering safety, healing, and recovery with survivors of trafficking and exploitation.
Reflect survivor-centered impact.
Healing Action Network describes its survivor-centered philosophy as one that prioritizes dignity, respect, autonomy, safety, healing, empowerment, individualized support, and survivor voice. The refreshed identity needed to feel human, respectful, and empowering rather than clinical or overly formal.
Celebrate a decade of forward movement.
The 10th anniversary provided an opportunity to visually acknowledge the organization’s growth, resilience, and expanded community presence while keeping the brand recognizable and mission-aligned.
